Dr. Daisy Kuchinad
Dr. Daisy Kuchinad is a non-conformist physician who practices medicine on her own terms. While she is board certified in the Western allopathic disciplines of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and has practiced Western Medicine for last 30 years, she has immersed herself in understanding Ayurveda since 2008. She believes in facilitating healing through an integrative approach, uniting Western mechanistic science and Eastern systems-based science with a goal of addressing root causes of disease. In 2000, she founded Hope Charities, Inc. (now BIRDS), which served over 2500 people with outpatient medical care, offered educational scholarships to low-income youth, and facilitated community projects such as clean drinking water. In 2014, she started Ahimsa Retreats, which provides Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation for groups from all over the world. Located in the Kerala, India, Ahimsa has functioned as a space for rejuvenation as well as a site for alternative practices that complement Western medicine when Western approaches alone have proven inadequate. The income from the Ahimsa supports Ahimsa Gardens which preserves over 400 species of Ayurvedic plants and trees.
Presently, she has started her own integrative medicine consultation practice where she breaks the mold of 15-minute visits to offer the time and space needed to truly address health issues at their core. Dr. Kuchinad lives in Baltimore with her family.
